Meet Amanpreet Wadhwa – Calgary Individual and Couples Counsellor

My name is Amanpreet Wadhwa. I am a Registered Calgary individual and couples counsellor with a background that bridges personal experience and long-standing curiosity about how people grow, relate, and adapt. My career began in computer science, where I worked for close to twenty years. Like many, I tried to manage a demanding profession while raising a family. Though life appeared steady from the outside, internally I felt a gradual thinning of energy, meaning, and connection. The roles I occupied – professional, spouse, parent – left little room for reflection or repair. Eventually, I turned to counselling myself, and that work became the beginning of something new.
That turning point didn’t offer a quick solution, but it gave me something sturdier: an unfolding process of facing what had been long ignored and slowly returning to what matters.
This experience didn’t just change me – it reoriented me. I came to value the kind of work that is unhurried, thoughtful, and honest. I believe in therapy not as a series of tools, but as an encounter: a place where someone can reflect, uncover what has been driving them, and begin to choose differently.
My approach to counselling
My work is rooted in the belief that change begins with awareness. Whether someone is dealing with uncertainty, conflict, or a feeling of emotional depletion, I aim to provide room to begin untangling what’s been difficult.
In individual counselling, I help people explore what lies beneath the surface -patterns that have shaped their emotional lives, early relationships, and how they move through the world. We look at how these patterns formed, what continues to reinforce them, and what alternative paths may now be possible.
In couples counselling, I work with partners to understand the relational patterns that cause friction and disconnection. We examine where these dynamics come from – whether rooted in early attachment, cultural stories, or personal histories – and work toward change through accountability, reflection, and care for the relationship itself.
In spiritual counselling, I support clients in exploring the often-overlooked realm of spiritual well-being. While our modern world frequently emphasizes the measurable, the spiritual often goes unnamed. As a Master Reiki Practitioner rooted in spirituality, I offer Reiki as an optional part of the counselling process. This approach respects both the inner world and the energetic body, offering a quiet complement to the verbal work of therapy.
Whether through dialogue or stillness, my goal is to create a space where healing becomes possible – in all its forms
Who I Work With
As a Calgary individual and couples counsellor, I am interested in adult individuals and couples return to themselves. I don’t promise transformation, but I do offer a consistent place to do meaningful work. The work can be slow, and often difficult – but over time, it can foster resilience, deeper awareness, and stronger connection with yourself and others.
If this resonates with where you are, I invite you to explore the services I offer or reach out to begin a conversation.
